Regis Laconi won the first race of the Monza WSB weekend today by taking victory in a two lap Alfa Romeo sponsored cycle race. The PSG-1 Kawasaki rider had to fend off a strong challenge from Australian Karl Muggeridge, Troy Bayliss and Spaniard Carlos Checa. Current championship leader and renowned cyclist Troy Bayliss led for most of the race and looked in control but as they entered the final turn until, Laconi upped the pace dramatically and sprinted to the line. Muggeridge took second with Bayliss third and Checa fourth. Fellow Spaniard Ruben Xaus took fifth with Kenan Sofuoglu in sixth, Michel Fabrizio seventh, Yukio Kagayama eight and Max Neukirchner in ninth. Laconi’s victory earned him a new Alpha Romeo race bke worth nearly £5000. Watch the video to hear what Laconi had to say about the race Satisfy all your biking needs at www.motorcyclenews.com
