The only way to rapidly cycle a tank is to put ammonia in and then seed the cycle with either:

filter media or gravel from an established tank. Just water won’t cut it because the good-guy bacteria glue themselves to surfaces

    Or

Bio-spira. It can be hard to find and you have to ask for it because stores have to keep it in a fridge to keep it alive. It IS the only product that is the actual real bacteria that start the nitrogen cycle. There is a product called ‘cycle’ that some people swear by, but it’s not the actual bacteria.

That fast? Gotta get some Biospira it is live bacteria culure ready to gobble up ammonia from your fish.

add a whole bunch of gold fish, feed them a few times a day.
The water will then turn cloudy and some fish may die, wait a few more days test the water everythign clear do a 25% only water change and add your fish 5 gallon won’t take very long.

You don’t even have to jerk yourself around for this refriderated stuff. The fastest way hands down, is to get filter media, like the sponge or biomax from an existing filter. This will have the bacteria you need.

Cycle and biomax only yield mixed results at best and shouldn’t be advocated to use. I’ve tried both with very inconsistant results. I’ve seen ammonia dropping but nitrite not going anywhere. I’ve seen nitrite drop, but ammonia show back up. I’ve seen both just stay the same. To mature the tank fastest, get some filter media from an established filter.

If that is not really an option, then at least getting some gravel or substrate material from an existing tank will help. It may not totally cycle the tank in a week, but it will be faster then your typical and normal cycle. You can also use a product by Seachem called Prime. Prime will ionize your ammonia as well as nitrite, thus allowing your fish to have a greater chance at coping with these compounds in the water, while allowing your bacteria you do have, to use that as a fuel source to grow with. Prime will also dechlorinate the water as well.
